Not able to install Windows XP in Vista's Pre-loaded machine !!

Friend of mine bought a new laptop with Vista Ultimate by default(OEM Version). He had a problem in activation and not able to log inBaring teeth. He was neither able to format nor install XP Angry. I too tried couple of times with bootup CD, the installation crashed with blue screen. On closer lookup, I came to know that there was problem with BIOS Settings . It was intially set to "AHCI", I've changed to "IDE" to support Windows XP, then it started installing well and good.

Welcome onboard, my new baby - Acer Aspire 5052

    Hi pals,
Yes, I'm blogging from my new laptop Acer Aspire 5052-ANWXMi to catch up the fast lane of Technology & for preparation. Already having a desktop which I bought in my college days in year 2000, after doing several formats and R&D's, it started losing its components one by one in installments...first HDD, then RAM, CD writer, CD reader...I tried maximum to upgrade it to hold for sometime, but after spending 7K I'm not satisfied...its getting restarted sometims..so simply lost my hope on it. Almost for the past one month, I was going through magazines, laptop reviews, calls for quotation, price comparison..etc. It was really a hard decision to go for a laptop while having desktop but decided with lots of MS hope . And also it was a tough for me to select the brand, selecting the processor, with graphics card or not etc. Finally traditional AMD or Intel..??  Nodded for AMD after checking it from their website. School without lessons

“A life without challenges would be like
going to school without lessons to learn.
Challenges come not to depress or get you down,
but to master and to grow and to unfold your abilities..

Well said and beautifully quoted one. Thanks to Gopinath for sharing this wonderful quote

And if you encounter a setback, don’t let it depress you and put you down. Take it as an opportunity to learn and a challenge for you to succeed next time." - Via ali's blog. Thanks Ali~

    Eight Queens puzzle explored !

    hi,
Have you ever tried or come across solution for Eight Queens puzzle  ...I'm wondering how many geeks might have tried this in various ways. I really don't know about this until I found it in Krishna(Google employee blg - http://crawls.blogspot.com.
After weekend partying, movie(Munnabhai II), shopping for Diwali and no work on sunday pushed me to try something new or learn things to complete the day usefully. Result I started walking towards office, Asusual I started my expedition with wikipedia for this puzzle.I'm not sure for 'n' queens..so I decided to take a printout of this for morning study leisurely in room. Meanwhile if any of you tried this feel free to share.
Note: There are only nine unique solution for this problem it seems. But after googlin in net about this, somewhere I got a simple calculation for this.
                     (2^8-1)/(8-1) = 255/7 = 36.428571 (rounded to 6 decimals)
But in nut shell if you are an avg geek like me in maths here is the cheatcode. Place your queens in [2,4,6,8, 3175 ] manner to get this..bingoo  src : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eight_queens_puzzle

    happy solving !

Poor people have big TVs.. Rich people have big libraries...

    Hi all,
I h've been receiving daily inspirational mail from Mountainwings.com for quite few years. Even though I'm not a christian, I really love those daily mails carrying interesting stuff about our daily personal things and morals, which will make my day often. This post is also related to today's post on Big TV.

This post is followed by my : Decided to giveup TV - Yes

Src: Today's Inspirational mail from Mountainwings.com carries news on ANTI Tv. I love it, hope you like this..

    Big TV?
    =====
Dr. James Twitchell, author of The Carnival Culture, says that in our culture "the average boy or girl will spend more time in front of the electronic babysitter by the time they are age six than they will in conversation with their father ...for the REST OF THEIR LIVES."
The average male in the United States will not read a single book cover to cover after they leave high school.
The average person spends four hours a day watching television.
So, if you live to be 72 years old, that's a dozen years of your life you will spend watching OTHER people become millionaires.
Zig Ziglar calls TV the "income reducer and the morality buster."
Jim Rome says that "poor people have big TVs, rich people have big libraries.
Gene Roddenbery, the creator of Star Trek, was giving a commencement address at Indiana University.  He said, "Television exists for one reason and one reason only."    To entertain?  To inform?  To educate?
"No, to SELL you something."   Think about it!

What you say..? do you want to watch others becoming rich or really going to push yourself..DECIDE. Really it makes sense...
